Why it depends on your city
Every muhurat is counted from local sunrise and sunset. The day (sunrise to sunset) and the night are each divided into parts, so the same Choghadiya or Rahu Kaal falls at different clock times in Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai — and changes through the year.
Choghadiya
The day and the night are each split into eight Choghadiyas of about 90 minutes. Amrit, Shubh and Labh are considered good for beginnings; Char is neutral; Udveg, Kaal and Rog are avoided. The order depends on the weekday.
Horas
Each hour from sunrise is ruled by a planet in the Chaldean order. Traditionally, a planet’s hora suits matters it rules — Jupiter’s for learning and blessings, Venus’s for arts and relationships, and so on.
